Also, governance may state who is accountable, while risk management will ensure clarity on the roles and responsibilities in case of an incident or failure. 

Clearly, this is an issue of great significance, particularly in controlled industries like finance, health care, and insurance, as decisions made regarding the employment of AI have direct impacts on human life. There has also been growing interest from regulators in organizations seeking to prove to them not only that they have controls in place but also that these controls can be monitored. A properly aligned governance model is thus the key to confidence. 

Regulatory Expectations and How AI Governance Is Keeping Up with Evolution 

Regulators across the globe are racing to provide guidance on what they expect from the application of AI. We have laws and frameworks like the European Union’s AI Act, data privacy regulations, as well as industry-based ones. So, in essence, AI governance is not just an optional best practice anymore—it is a necessity!
