Background:
Lululemon has launched a new era in its retail experience with the opening of a flagship store in New York City’s SoHo district. Located at Broadway and Spring Street, the newly constructed 17,000-square-foot location is now one of the brand’s largest stores globally and replaces its earlier SoHo space.
According to Darin Rabb, senior vice president of global brand creative and experience, the new store was designed to capture the spirit of New York while reinforcing Lululemon’s focus on a welcoming, immersive retail environment. He said the store’s design and materials were chosen to help customers connect with the brand and see the quality of its products.
The new store style highlights movement, community, and a more engaging shopping experience. The outside uses 3D-printed recycled materials inspired by the brand’s clothing designs. Inside, the store includes special design touches such as terrazzo floors, wood details, and a staircase with lighting inspired by the colors of the Pacific Northwest.
The flagship sells a wide range of products and offers services like personal styling. It also includes boards that share local ambassadors, area tips, and upcoming events.
Carla Anderson, senior vice president of North America retail, emphasized the brand’s continued commitment to community. She noted that SoHo has been a core location since the first store opened there in 2007, and the new space represents the next stage of Lululemon’s retail vision.
The New York opening follows the recent launch of a similarly refreshed store in Gangnam, Seoul, signaling a wider global rollout of Lululemon’s updated creative direction.
