Background-
American Express has ranked No. 2 on the Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance list, marking its 10th year on the list and its seventh straight year in the top three.
The ranking draws on survey responses from more than 194,000 employees at Great Place To Work Certified companies across the industry. The survey measures trust in leadership, connection with colleagues and overall well-being.
Monique Herena, Chief Colleague Experience Officer at American Express, said the recognition year after year shows how colleagues experience the company every day. She said the firm believes the best way to back customers is to back its colleagues, because strong leaders, growth chances and well-being support help them deliver their best and improve customer experiences.
Leadership drives this approach. The company’s 10 Leadership Behaviors, built on its Blue Box Values, set the standard for leaders at every level and promote continuous learning, candid feedback and teamwork.
American Express funds long-term growth through career conversations, leadership development, mentoring and peer coaching, and staff can take short-term projects outside their regular roles to build skills. Benefits include on-site wellness centers, mental health counseling, financial-wellness resources and family and caregiver support.
The company has also launched Amex U, an enterprise learning ecosystem that combines leadership, business and technical learning with more than 20,000 on-demand courses plus live and hands-on sessions. Nearly 3,000 colleagues from 14 countries joined GrowthHack, its global hackathon on improving customer and colleague experiences.
